India: Goa : Resident Dogs : Peggy

Name: Peggy
Gender: Female
Colour: Light brown and White
Age: 2 years

Funny characteristic: She has just 3 legs but has learned to be as mobile as all the other dogs.

PeggyPeggy was admitted to the centre following a traffic accident in which she had badly fractured her left front leg. The vets had no choice but to amputate but only after making sure that her care takers would take her back and look after her. She underwent the complicated surgery and subsequently spent almost three months recovering. This was largely due to the fact that she was so active and she kept falling over on her stump breaking it open. When she was ready to go back the care takers had changed their minds and didn’t want her back. They reckoned that she’d be no good to them with only three legs. By then Peggy had won over everybody’s heart so we were more than happy to make her one of ours. Now she is a happy and healthy and fully mobile dog at the centre and she can’t get enough of running and playing all day long.
